Admittedly it's a bad pitch. "Looking for intelligent liberals" gives the impression that we are assuming most liberals are unintelligent, and therefore we need a rare "intelligent" liberal.

Most liberals I know aren't unintelligent, or uneducated. Instead most liberals I know are very well educated--which is not synonymous with intelligence. Think college professor. I feel that most liberals I know are approaching reality from a highly idealistic viewpoint that has been shaped by philosophy and other high order thinking. Unfortunately philosophy and other high order thinking deals with the hypothetical and ideals. We live in reality and therefore must use our knowledge of philosophy and history to make the hard decisions that, I feel, liberals are unwilling to make. Not spending trillions on social programs is one example.

To a social science professor welfare is essential and ethical. To an economists it's a waste of money. Somewhere in the middle is the majority of the country who on one hand would love if everyone were able to do whatever they wanted and afford everything they wanted, but realize that the world doesn't work that way.

That's my over-simplified interpretation for the day.

i don't agree. just because libs have a bad rep of being morons doesn't mean that it was intended to be a put down.

i meant what i said with no spin.

none stepped up yet.

the real question is... why?
